The September meeting of the Southeast branch of IPS is being cancelled due to the Ploughing Championships held at the same time in New Ross.
We hope everyone is enjoying themselves whether in wellies at the event or peacefully working at your sewing machine!

November 12 is the deadline for the Winter newsletter. Our branch has repeatedly missed sending in content and as such, we are not represented in this great newsletter!  Members, please help and forward any interesting member or sewing news to Marina, 0861600625 or Sherry, 0872698119.
Thanks!

Enniscorthy Exhibition 1-8 July

Apologies to all IPS members! In the recent newsletter we printed that the below exhibition is July 30. It is not! We are very sorry.

The exhibition is  July 1-8 in St. Aidan’s cathedral in Enniscorthy. Thanks to collective efforts, there will be 90+ quilts representing of the SouthEast quilters at this celebration of Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin, gifted designer of the 19th Century and St. Aidan’s cathedral, the largest church Pugin built in Ireland.

Summer Stitching

In the SouthEast we have been enjoying the combination of warm and wet weather of Ireland. It seems the rain and the sun is dancing from county to county!
On a beautiful Wednesday evening last week, we had our final meeting in New Ross, the last before the new September term.  We'll be back meeting on 26 September when we'll hold our AGM.

In this May meeting, Mary demo'd the Dresden plate piecing and Eileen shared a square-in a-square technique.  We love when our members take the time to make samples and talk through the steps.

Also at this time, Fr. Richard Lawless spoke regarding the July 1-8 exhibition of quilts in St.

Anne Marie did show and tell with her 12 year-old daughter Maggie sharing her largest quilt.

Summer is here and despite the break from meetings, quilting marches on. The Crossroads exhibition call for entries is drawing to a close--contact Loretta O'Brien at loretta@aspennet.ie before close of bank holiday of June for details.

Several of our members are sharing a lift with Kilkenny IPS members to visit the International Quilt Festival of Ireland for June 7-9. We hope to see you all there.

Deadlines are nearing for the IPS National Exhibition call for quilts. Be sure to be in touch with the Limerick IPS branch regarding how to enter your quilts.

Festival of Quilts is on as usual in August. Check it out!

We hope to see you soon.

About April

Our March meeting was held in Waterford and was an extended day of sewing. We enjoyed ourselves with fifteen in attendance. Thanks to everyone who organised and those who attended!
April is just around the corner. We have been invited to join the South Midlands IPS branch in Kilkenny, at 11am on 21 April.  For location address, please contact Pauline Beglin.
We will be honoured to see and meet the talented quilter Frances Sawaya in addition to the creative Rebekah Patterson. Rebekah will be presenting her creations, hat and headpieces; she both creates and teaches in workshops.
Marina Malone has an invitation from the St Louis Stitchers for a small number of quilts for their Mi na Bealtaine celebrations in May.
Our monthly meeting for April will be held in New Ross on Wednesday, 25 April at 7:30pm.
Fr. Richard Lawless will also join us. He is inviting us to participate in the Enniscorthy Pugin Quilt Exhibition in July. Niamh will have a copy of the membership contact details for everyone in the audience!  Sherry has a pattern for a members’ badge which we may make for the May meeting.
Last, but not least, the shop at our April meeting is Patchwork Plus (Moya Geraghty).
We hope to see you there!

Greetings from Wexford

Our patchwork branch of the Irish Patchwork Society comprises quilters in the South East of Ireland, generally covering Wexford, Waterford and adjacent counties. If you live near or happen in the area, please do join us!

We are fortunate to have 20-30 great members who come out every month to share and talk about patchwork and quilting.

Our March meeting is an exception and will be a full day of sewing on the 10th of March in Waterford. Email e.pbeglin@gmail.com for more
information.

In our February meeting, we were honoured to have the St. Louis Lacemakers visit and share the great crochet, knitting and beading crafts.
The room was filled with ooos and ahhs.
Special thanks to Evelyn Shannon for bringing her shop to our meeting.

Members Annette and Eileen shared the great patchwork artwork that they completed at the recent retreat at An Grianan earlier in February.
There are always plenty of laughs and fun when our members come together. Below is Annette modeling another's show and tell.
What will you bring for show and tell in April?
